Carol Cannon's Five Elements Characteristics

Metal:
• Domes, arches, round
• Colors: White, pastels, gold, silver, bronze
• Metal trims, metal objects, shiny objects, mirrors, pendulum clocks

Water:
• Curves, irregular shapes, wavy
• Colors: Black, Dark Blue
• Glass objects, water fountains, ponds, aquariums, and swimming pools - black stones are often used to represent water in Zen gardens, art with water featured

Wood:
• Tall, columnar, rectangular
• Colors: green, blues
• Wood objects, plants, flowers, bamboo (considered sacred), trees, art containing plant life

Fire:
• Angular, pointed, triangles
• Colors: Reds, pinks, purples, oranges
• Plastics, man-made materials, fire, candles, fireplaces, red lights, pictures of sun, fireworks

Earth:
• Square, flat
• Colors: Yellow, tan, brown, beige
• Bricks, clay, concrete
